Service area and mileage cost
Little Dolittle provides home visit services within a 4-mile radius of Tibshelf, measured as a one-way trip. While no mileage fees are charged for visits located within Tibshelf itself, all other visits incur a travel charge of £1.00 per mile. Additionally, any home visit located between a 2 and 4-mile radius of Tibshelf will incur a £5.00 surcharge per visit. Please note that we are unable to accept bookings for any location exceeding this 4-mile limit.
Enclosures and equipment
Little Dolittle cannot be held liable for costs relating to damage to cages and animal enclosures, accessories (such as lighting, etc). If lighting or heating provided by the customer stops working then Little Dolittle will do its best to replace the item but the cost must be reimbursed by the owner on their return.
Food
Little Dolittle requests customers to supply their own dried/live/frozen food, hay/straw, fruit, vegetables and plants to cover the duration of the booking. In the event that additional items need to be purchased (pet food, litter, cleaning supplies or other necessary items that contribute to the health and wellbeing of your pet), Little Dolittle will purchase these and retain a receipt. The pet owner is responsible for reimbursement of these items within 7 days of the customer’s return.
Keeping you updated
As part of the boarding and home visit service, we are happy to send you regular updates on your pet(s). We know they are a big part of your family and you miss them. We regularly share pictures/videos of the pets in our care on our social media pages and/or website. We ask all customers to let us know via our booking form if they would prefer that we do not share pictures/videos of their pets. We ensure that all of the pictures and videos we share do not serve to identify the owner/property. For your security, no photos/videos are shared on social media until after you have safely returned home.
Booking
New customers are required to complete both a booking form and a pet registration form for our first visit. For all subsequent visits, returning customers must submit a new booking form; however, a new pet registration form is only necessary if your pet’s information has changed since our last visit.
An initial free visit will be organised at your home after receipt of the booking form. This will be an opportunity to introduce your pet(s) to Little Dolittle, discuss the requirements of your pet(s), share any concerns, key drop-off arrangements, alarm/padlock codes, location of pet’s supplies at customer’s home, discussion of other services required (watering plants, collecting post, putting bins out, etc). Full written instructions are required from the customer (via the booking form/pet registration form) to ensure that the expected services are delivered.
For new customers, we do request a non-returnable deposit of £20.00 to secure the booking. Please refer to our terms and conditions for payment information.
Reviews
"Where do I start about James.... friendly, professional, caring. Just an all round amazing animal lover.
James looked after our tribe of 4 cats, 2 turtles, 1 tortoise and a giant African land snail for 10 days while we were on holiday. He did a fantastic job and I loved all the updates and photos he sent. Needless to say, I don't think our animals wanted us to come home because James looked after them better than we do. Thank you so much from Blue , Mylo , naughty Bert, Ernie , Margaret, Alan , Norman and Kristoff"

"James looked after my 2 house cats while I was away and I couldn't recommend him highly enough if you are looking for a pet sitter in Tibshelf.
James is fully qualified and checked everything thoroughly and professionally before hand so they were both kept happy and in the same routine. He sent photos and updates every day as requested.
I had complete peace of mind and not a moments worry."

"Exceptionally friendly & caring. James & Louise are very thorough when preparing to visit, and when visiting send daily updates and pics, so you can be confident your pet is well looked after. Millie loved her daily cuddles and fuss from them both. I'd highly recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat. 1st class Pet care. Very happy customer. Thank you both" ❤

"Very happy with the service and standard of care by James and Louise. The regular updates and photos are a joy to receive and ease any worries about your pets, James is clearly very passionate about animals and their wellbeing and I would recommend Little Dolittle without hesitation!
The little extras, like taking the bins out at the appropriate time, are really helpful and much appreciated!
Thank you James and Louise!"

“James made twice daily house visits to our rabbits Pixie and Peaches whilst we were on holiday. He provided us with regular updates, including photos and even videos. His passion, knowledge and eagerness to learn the individual animals quirks and needs is above and beyond what is required to pet sit but makes his service premium. I would 100% recommend and definitely plan to use in the future. Thank you James and Louise.”
- Mrs Kennedy

"James came round to our house to give one of our rabbits her medicines whilst we were away, he is a little star. Nothing is too much trouble and he kept in regular contact with us, with lots of pictures, put me at ease knowing that my pets are well looked after, think they miss James once we are back."
