Tortoise Well-being Check

We offer a standalone well-being check service for your tortoise on our premises.

Cost

£10.00 per tortoise (approx 20- 30 mintues).

Why is a well-being check important?

Tortoises are masters of hiding discomfort, and many health issues can progress significantly before symptoms become obvious. Regular well-being checks are vital for early detection; when potential problems are identified early, they are often much easier to manage. By spotting minor issues before they escalate, these checks can help maintain your pet's health and may reduce the need for costly, advanced veterinary interventions.

Our comprehensive assessment includes a thorough review of your tortoise’s weight, eyes, scales, shell, and feet, as well as their ears, nails, nose, mouth, beak, and genitals. We also observe their gait and movement to ensure there are no signs of underlying mobility issues. These checks help identify common concerns such as:

  • Nutritional Health: Identifying signs of dietary deficiencies or Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD).

  • Shell Integrity: Monitoring for "pyramiding" or other shell growth irregularities.

  • Parasite Screening: Checking for external signs of parasitic infestations.

Please Note: A well-being check is a supportive care service designed to monitor the general health of your pet; it is not a diagnostic service and does not replace professional veterinary advice or treatment.
