Introducing Our New Rabbit Nail Trimming Service!

At Little Dolittle, we’re excited to announce the launch of our latest service: Rabbit Nail Trimming, which is available at our premises in Tibshelf for just £5 per rabbit. We understand how important it is to keep your rabbits happy and healthy, and regular nail care plays a crucial role in their well-being.

Why is nail trimming important for rabbits?

Rabbits’ nails grow constantly, and if left untrimmed, they can become overgrown, leading to serious health issues. Long nails can cause discomfort, make it difficult for rabbits to move properly, and even result in open wounds on their feet, which can quickly become painful and infected.

How often should rabbit nails be trimmed?

We recommend trimming your rabbit's nails every four to six weeks to ensure they stay at a healthy length. Regular maintenance will prevent overgrowth and reduce the risk of injury to your pet.

Home care tips for rabbit nail health:

In addition to regular trimming, you can help keep your rabbit’s nails in good shape by providing enrichment materials. We recommend giving your rabbit:

Digging materials: Natural digging surfaces help wear down nails naturally. Provide cardboard boxes, corrugated cardboard, or even a small sandpit for your rabbit to dig in. As with all animals, monitor and remove if you see your rabbit eating a lot of cardboard rather than just enjoying destroying it.

Rough surfaces: Such as tiles or stones in their environment to promote natural nail filing.

Toys: Keeping your rabbit engaged with toys made of natural materials such as willow branches, apple branches, hazel branches and forage trays not only improves their mental health but can also contribute to nail wear.
